HISTORY
The League was formed in 1993 and has seen many changes through the years. The only two original members who still exist are the Santa Barbara Foresters and San Luis Obispo Blues (previously known as the Rattlers). Bill Pintard, the current head coach of the Santa Barbara Foresters, was one of the founding members of the CCL.
With over 400 players annually, the CCL has witnessed many players develop and make their professional debut. As of 2023, 283 former CCL members have been selected in the MLB Draft.
Many large college conferences are featured in the CCL: SEC, PAC-12, BIG 10, BIG 12, ACC, Big East, Big West, Mountain West, Conference USA, American Conference +
The two major events the CCL hosts are the annual Showcase Game, where the best players from each division go head-to-head in a North vs. South showdown. The CCL also hosts the California State Championship, between the two teams that make it through the postseason and battle in August for the crown. The most recent 2025 champions are the Conejo Oaks, on a two year win streak.
